Through these sculptures, I explore the overwhelming nature of the human experience on both a personal and shared level. My experience of living with ADHD and ASD are a strong influence on their formation with themes like trauma, connection, failure and triumph all being reflected in the stoic presence of the figures as they contrast with the unpredictable shaping of the ‘heartstrings.’ Working with soft yarn to create the figures is also a form of sensory play in of itself, with a contrast forming between the comfort of creating through crochet and the discomfort of displaying such vulnerable emotions.
