DAC give me the opportunity to explore my identity, journey and experiences with language from Welsh, English and British Sign Language. Throughout my life and education, I have always been trying to navigate my way through three different languages. This project has given me the space and time to reflect the lack of education I had. One example of the barriers I had throughout education is that I am a Welsh Deaf person who was excluded from my right to access the Welsh language and taken out of these classes at school.

I feel that my artwork that has been created so far is not the concluded project and feel that it has been a fantastic experimental phase. Through this opportunity I know that I want to develop and evolve these pieces further. I have created different optical illusions that I have tried to express the distorted, disjointed emotions to reflect how I feel dissociated from society.

Creating optical illusions has been the best way to demonstrate how I feel with the world. I wanted to create pieces that viewer may experience similar feelings of being overwhelmed, confused, detached and pure exhausted just by trying to engage with my work.
