Call for Artists and Creative Facilitators – Synwyriwm

An Arts, Health & Wellbeing Project with Amser i Siarad, Galeri Caernarfon & National Trust Plas Newydd

About Synwyriwm

Synwyriwm (“sensorium”) builds on a successful pilot and moves into a new phase of creativity, nature, wellbeing, and community connection. We would like to encourage a strong focus on the senses—mindful sensory engagement with landscape, materials and sound supports grounding, resilience and mental‑health recovery. All sessions are encouraged to take place outdoors, to deepen participants’ relationship with the natural environment.

Participants experiencing moderate mental‑health problems will work alongside artists in a series of collaborative, sensory‑rich workshops inspired by the gardens, landscape and heritage of Plas Newydd.

Artist wellbeing is central to the project. A programme of training and development days will support practitioners to embed wellbeing‑led approaches into their practice, with regular opportunities to share skills and learning across the cohort.

The project will culminate in public touring exhibitions at Galeri Caernarfon and Plas Newydd, celebrating participants’ voices and challenging stigma around mental health.
