A petition has been launched by Richard Burgon MP calling for a wealth tax rather than cuts. The petition can be signed by clicking here: https://www.change.org/p/tax-wealth-don-t-cut-disability-support

It has already been backed by over 60,000 people and will be presented in Parliament ahead of any votes on the cuts. The petition states:

“A 2% Wealth Tax on assets over £10 million could raise up to £24 billion per year. That’s far more than the £5 billion the Government claims it will “save” by cutting key financial support for disabled people.

We call on the Government to abandon these cruel cuts and, instead of punishing the poorest, to implement a Wealth tax on the very wealthiest.”

Richard Burgon MP is also hosting an online event on the campaign for a wealth tax at 6.30pm Monday the 16th of June. You can find out more information here.
