For disability history month. We are looking for neurodivergent people to participate in a relaxed reading of a short theatre piece about the laird Hugh Blair of Borgue, a neurodivergent man from the eighteenth century. This is part of a Swansea University research project using theatre to engage with the history of neurodivergence, funded by The Wellcome Trust. This research has gained ethical approval from the Humanities and Social Sciences ethics committee and the approval number is 2 2025 14083 14089.
The study involves participating in a relaxed reading of a play and then answering a short questionnaire about your experience. No prior acting skills or historical knowledge are needed.
This will take place on November 18th 2025 1-3pm at Taliesin studio, Swansea University, Singleton Campus.
If you identify as neurodivergent and are over 18 years old, and would like to participate, please email Dr Laura Seymour laura.seymour@swansea.ac.uk to reserve your place.
Lunch, items to fidget with, large print versions of all written materials, and a quiet space will be provided. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed. We encourage you to let us know any further access needs you have.
Any questions about this research, do not hesitate to email Laura Seymour.
