For our November Artist of the Month feature we are highlighting the brilliant work of one of our organisational members: Am - the Digital Home of Welsh Culture.

Am is home to a community of creative and social organizations from Wales. From literature to theatre to music, it’s available to all, all in one place: ambobdim.cymru

Am is working with DAC members to improve the accessibility of their website. Their website also shares work from DAC members, including Artist of the Month features and commissions. Learn more below:

Am has recently launched its new Advisory Panel, focused on improving the accessibility of the Am website and strengthening the representation of Deaf, disabled, and neurodiverse individuals in the arts.

The panel, made up of Deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent participants, will meet regularly, with sessions conducted in both English and Welsh, supported by the Arts Council of Wales and Disability Arts Cymru.

The first session is scheduled for December. Following the sessions, summary reports will be published on Am’s website blog, sharing key insights and findings with the public. To protect privacy, all participants will remain anonymous.

Find out more about the Am Advisory Panel and other opportunities through Am on their website now.

From 75 to 480+ creative profiles, Am’s journey redefined the digital landscape for Welsh arts as it celebrated five years.

A first-of-its-kind digital platform for discovering and celebrating Welsh arts and culture, Am marked its fifth anniversary with a renewed vision, a major website relaunch to improve accessibility and user experience, and the launch of AmCam, its first ever digital film festival. Designed to reflect the creativity and diversity of modern Wales, Am became a central force for cultural discovery and community storytelling—and set its sights even higher.

Launched in 2020, Am was created in Wales for Wales — a bilingual, inclusive, and open-access space to explore the nation’s creative industries, from music and theatre to literature and film. What began with 75 creative organisations grew into a thriving online home for more than 480 profiles, hosting over 8,000 pieces of content and becoming a vital tool for discovery, connection and creative collaboration.

Am is focused on continuing to grow as the go-to destination for Welsh cultural engagement. With new partnerships, digital innovation and a platform designed to support creativity at every level, Am is creating more opportunities for artists and audiences to connect and redefining what a national cultural platform can be.

AmCam:

Earlier this year, Am launched Am AmCam, a digital film festival sharing short documentary films about art in Welsh communities. In the first round, films by Ffion Pritchard, Mariéad Ruane, Jon Berg and Harriet Fleuriot were screened. These documented a wide range of topics - from art workshops discussing women's self-worth in Bangor to a community of painters and sculptors living in Cwmllynfell. You can watch all the films of the first round here https://www.ambobdim.cymru/en/discover/amcam/.

In the new year, Am is looking forward to screening AmCam2, featuring Welsh language films by filmmakers Lauren Heckler, Gwenno Llwyd Till, Lily Tiger T Wells and Hannah Mefin, as well as AmCam3, a round specifically about music in Wales’ communities.
