Trans Community Resources & Support

Disability Arts Cymru stand together with our trans members and the trans community always. We have put together a list of Wales and UK based resources and support networks that we hope could be of help at this challenging time:


Trans Aid Cymru:

Trans Aid Cymru aims to help Transgender, Non-Binary and Intersex (TIN) people through mutual aid support. The project is run by TIN people for TIN people, making it inclusive and understanding of the community needs.


Umbrella Cymru:

Umbrella Cymru’s services include support services include emotional support, practical support, information and signposting, listening services, and advocacy.


Switchboard:

Switchboard is the national LGBTQIA+ support line. For anyone, anywhere in the country, at any point in their journey.


TransActual UK:

TransActual are a national, trans led and run organisation focussed specifically on working for trans adults in the UK.


Queer Emporium (Cardiff):

Almost exclusively operated by trans / intersex / non binary community members, The Queer Emporium is a home for minority genders and strives to create an affirming safe space with needed events and workshops for the community.


LLyfrau Lliwgar (Bangor & Cardiff):

Llyfrau Lliwgar (Colourful Books) is an LGBTQ+ book club which was founded in Bangor September 2021 and which later developed a branch in Cardiff September 2022. Both Bangor and Cardiff groups meet once a month to discuss various texts by LGBTQ+ authors or which include queer representation (even if the representation is not the best).


Snowdrops (West Wales):

Snowdrops is a self-help support group serving Transgender people (M-F, F-M and gender neutral), their partners, families and friends. We are based in the West Wales area and meet every second Saturday of each month between 7:30pm and 11:00pm.


UNIQUE Transgender Network (North Wales and West Cheshire):

UNIQUE Transgender Network is a voluntary group supporting Trans (transgender), Non-Binary and Gender Diverse people in North Wales and West Cheshire.


Tawe Butterflies (Swansea):

Tawe Butterflies is a free-membership, transgender support group, with over 400 members, in the Swansea area.
